Cosmote Romania brings you Facebook, at only one SMS away

Cosmote Romania is pleased to announce that, starting today, as a first on the market, its customers have the possibility to receive SMS notifications from Facebook, free of charge. Thus, the customers having Facebook accounts now have the possibility to interact from their mobile phone much easier on the largest social network, using the Facebook SMS notifications service.
„Facebook has become the most important channel to socialize in the virtual environment, offering everyone the power to share and make the world more open and connected, and now our customers can have access to it, for the first time in our market, through a simple SMS.
The new service comes to the benefit of COSMOTE customers, completing the experience of using the internet on the mobile phone and offering them permanent access to their community on Facebook”, Gabriel Ionita, Senior Manager, Products & Services Development, COSMOTE Romania, stated.
COSMOTE users who have a Facebook account can now receive free of charge notifications directly on their mobile phones, through SMS. Also, posting on Facebook is possible by sending the posts as regular SMS messages to the short number 32665 (FBOOK). The tariff for sending any message to Facebook is 0.05 Euro (VAT not included) for postpaid customers, respectively 0.05 Euro credit for prepaid users.
In order to activate the Facebook SMS notifications, the customers must access the Mobile section of their Facebook account in the Account Settings page, select the section for the text messages registration and then fill the specified steps. After that, the user must send through SMS the “Fb” message to the short number 32665 (FBOOK), chargeable with 0.05 Euro plus VAT in order to receive the activation code. This code is required to be introduced in the Facebook portal for associating the user`s account with his/her phone number.
